P.E.E.R.S. is intended to help students remain successful academically. Through monthly meetings, mentors will guide students toward academic resources on Southern Miss's campus and communicate information about events and activities that will help them reach their goals during the school year.

"PEERS is a peer mentoring program that focuses on sophomore and first year transfer student success. Sophomore year is a critical year to help keep students enrolled in school and graduate on time, since statistically most students drop out this year. Transfer students, also, may find it difficult to make the adjustment to university life. PEERS is here to provide academic support and mentoring. Through this, the eagle experience at USM will be improved." - Breanne Dalton, P.E.E.R.S. Director
