The Student Government Association at Southern Miss places a high value on transparency and the publication of its legislation, as these practices are fundamental to fostering trust and accountability within the student body.   • Legislation refers to resolutions and bills created by the legislative authority that is the SGA Senate. The SGA Senate shall enact any legislation it deems necessary to the student body.

  • The most direct way to be involved in SGA's legislative process is to apply to be a member of the Senate. As a Senator, you have the power to discuss and vote on any proposed legislation with the rest of the Senate.

    However, you do not have to be a member of the Senate to have a voice in proposed legislation. Senate meetings are open to every member of the student body.
